Happy Monday! I don't know about you but I'm not moving so fast with this time change. Things are hopping for me in the writing world. Dante and Sasha (Operation True One) is #1 on the 14 day best sellers list over at Siren Publishing. The Long Road to Revelation and Adoration (Granite County) is doing well at Amazon. This week, Cash's Jesse (Rescue for Hire) will be on pre-sale at Siren.
The MM writing world is in an uproar over the discovered lies told by a writer. Many of us use a different name. That is standard practice to keep our private lives somewhat private. Many authors use a male sounding name when they are female. This author went farther, posing as a down and out gay single male who lived with his sister. Add in raising money to fight his life-threatening cancer, and you have quite a tale. He also was known to attack and speak bad of other authors.
The truth is, the man was a straight married male with a family. No cancer, but he did buy a house shortly after the cancer monies came in. Some say his wife actually wrote the stories. You get the idea of what was going on.
The outrage is understandable. Some surely have lawsuit options. His books have been pulled and social media outlets are gone. But now comes the other fallouts.
Let's be clear here. One bad apple does not make the tree rotten. The rest of us hard working authors of MM have nothing to do with these dishonest practices. We write to the best of our ability to give you a few hours away from the worlds harsh realities. The wave of people deciding to boycott MM is unreasonable. Coming down on women for writing MM and saying only men should write this genre is unfair. It shouldn't matter who, what, or where wrote the story as long as you enjoy the tale.
I felt the need to address this matter. What that author did was disgusting and I hope justice comes to those who donated money in good faith. I also hope people calm down and understand the rest of us haven't taken that path crooked path.
