I've been distracted lately and writing has taken a back seat. The politics in the United States is overwhelming. Calm and stableness have disappeared for a long time now. Every week a major happening happens to the point that an event that in the past would cause a major uproar now results in a shrug.

My oldest son is coming home later this week, for a few days. He will leave his dog with us and travel north to help prepare for a wedding where he is the best man. His dog is a young, rescued German Shepard. She's very nervous and a bit high strung. I hope this goes well with our two dogs.

My daughter called yesterday. Some of you may have met her at GRL last year. She's sick. We've encouraged her to call the doctor and go in for a COVID test. She has the symptoms. What a helpless feeling. We live over 2 hours away and it isn't safe for me to go mother her with love and chicken soup.

My middle son is also coming over next weekend. He wants to try smoking bacon with his father.

On the note of Mr. B. He broke his little toe a few days ago while tearing apart a small wooden shed he built twenty-five years ago. I guess the maul he was using missed a board and hit his foot. It's a beautiful purple.

Well, I suppose it's time to get dressed and try a little writing.

Here's a taste of the story I'm working on. (unedited)

Roman Marshall tapped the end of the pen against the pad covering part of his desk, winced, and threw the pen down. He refused to give away his thoughts or feelings through his pen as his superior, Cade Miller, tended to do. All employees of Rescue for Hire knew how serious a situation was by the extent Cade mangled his pen.

As the leader of a team of experts, located in Nevada, who rescued people from natural and man-made disasters, Roman took pride in maintaining control at all times. His men knew they could trust him to remain calm no matter how intense the situation. Today, any semblance of tranquility had sailed out the window in an explosion of deep dread. One of his men was in trouble.

Roman didn’t know who or what had happened, but his sixth sense was screaming and blaring warning bells. He’d already put out a text demanding that his team check in and all had responded. Still, his radar continued to ping out of control.

Cade had confessed to knowing things about his team before they happened. It seemed, that Roman had gained that gift, or maybe curse.

Roman reached for his phone. It was time to call a meeting and see who needed him. Before he touched the device, it began vibrating and ringing.

  1. Hopefully things will settle down soon, at least we all hope they will. I'm glad you get to see your kids. As for the puppy, Ollie and Cooper will help you with her. That little teaser is awesome and I can't wait to read the rest. I will tho, and patiently. Take care of yourself in this time of unrest.
